Some of this helps. Still not really sure what to look into. This has helped a little bit, getting a list of what job titles would go with what sort of schooling.

Husband has read the post, and commented that, seeing my past patterns, doesnt think I'll do enough outside of school to be worth while for portfolios, or maybe even become good enough for a career. As in, going through the program and doing fine but it just not cutting it against everyone else. Totally see and agree and understand. (and honestly, that's even a bit of a worry of mine too)

So there are just some thoughts I had and written down earlier in the day
About taking animation class )

Summer classes or spring classes??  Taking 1-2 classes a semester

How long will I spend at my parents this spring/summer

PS:

Thinking a little more on it, I was getting my self pumped up to do art and animation, and now I feel a little deflated, only because I know it's truth that I most liekly won't do outside class projects, and I've always felt like I was never Best of the Best. But really, it doesn't mean I still can't make a career out of art, just that I should not be going to school to pay money for it.

I'm going to mop on it some, but also try hard to work on the new schedule I want to set for myself. I'll need to get a little pumped up again, but the next step is to figure out what careers meet the "ideal job" requirements and then figure out what seems actually feasble.

So whatever that maybe, I will be starting in the fall then I think.

Thinking of go to back to school to get a degree/career something, and I keep thinking “what should I do?” The answer for so long had been art or animation, but I just don’t do those in my spare time, I havent improved (in fact, I feel it’s safe to say I back-slide some) so I feel like I won’t ever have a portfolio or skills to be hired (even though I feel like I could do it if there was some structure and push???) Like maybe going back to school for it would be great, but I don’t want to do 100-101 classes, because OMG so many YOUNG PEOPLE and going over STUFF I DO KINDA KNOW ALREADY and I could use maybe like a accelerated version of it, but I don’t know enough/have enough recent practice to be in the 201 or whatever.'

Then the question is, which school to go to, there’s one thats closer than the other, but the other might have a better program? (I’ll have to look into it) and the one thats further away has a girl in the program (how I know about it) who’s younger than me, and I dont want to go there and be below her?? (I feel like a fool, because I’ve offered her some help in stuff, although she uses Maya and I know 3ds max instead)

so all this feeling of dread builds up in my chest and I start to panic and feel like I cant breath. I’m kind of wishing I had stuck out my original program and finished it.

I really should go back. I might not be able to get into say a game studio or something else, but from my first school, I talked to some of the people and they do stuff and say people want them to do animation stuff and they don’t like/want to. When I talked to them I said it would take me like 6 months to get back into it ROFL (year+ later here)

But there is demand for it places, I’m sure I can find a job if I can. just. do. it.

I have so many issues I blame on stuff :<

-------
I already feel like a huge failure in terms of art, since I don't do any in my free time. I say I want to do it and enjoy it well enough, but I don't do stuff. So why am I going to go to school to do it??? I know the profession is portfolio based, and a lot of the companies see the same stuff in the portfolio over and over, because it's a school assignment, and get tired of it, and want to see what YOU can do etc. But that requires outside of the class roomm stuff, which I have all the free time in the world and not doing anything.

Although maybe once im in an environment again where other people are being creative and stuff, I might become once again too. Although back at my first school, I tried to do projects and sort of just.. didnt do them.... so I don't know what makes me think I will succeed now when in the past it's been flops.

>And my life has just always revolved around art in some form, I don't really know how to look at trying to do something else?? I know you don't have to be into a thing for it to be your career, but it helps doesnt it?? Maybe I should try harder to do menial and labor jobs, like janitor. As gross as that is D:

My ideal is to have a desk job with regular hours that don't vary a ton week to week, and thus still allows some sort of free time.

I think that's it. I know there's a lot of jobs that can fit that need (or at least i hope so??) But what and how would I get to them?? WHat would I need to do???

I am so lost and useless without someone telling me what to do. so low level amibition, I just always wanted to be a helper, an aid, someone who reports to someone else after X Y Z is done. Not someone who decides what comes after. D:

Maybe if I try a schedule again, or limiting "non-productive activities" like social media or games. No games till after 7, only  2 hours for social media(facebook, twitter, tumblr)?  Yeah
On non-theater days, after breakfast I need to open a program and do something in it for 30 minutes. We'll work on this habit. 3ds max, illustrator, photoshop, krita, premier/after effects, something. Does whatever I do have to be good? No, but I need to do something. Just get used to opening it and working in it.

Do that for a week and then add um a tutorial. Learn to do something new in the program (for like after effects or animation or some other adobe product probably)

well, it sounds like a sound plan in my head. I just dont have any sort of project or goal I am trying to work towards I think though...

so um

for drawing programs, lets go back to the pokemon trainers, and do pokemon doodles (or monsters or whatever takes me fancy I guess)
In 3ds max, there's the model Frida sent me. I think I stopped because I couldn't rig the hair easily.
After effects would be just messing around.
Illustrator should be doing the balloon game stuff. It's a goal to work on.

Roll a d6 to decides today's program!
1 Photoshop
2 Illustrator
3 3ds max
4 After Effects
5 Krita
6 Other

It's time for some self discipline again! Need to get back to working out again too. I think I found a decent morning yoga video on youtube I need to do in the mornings.

Tomorrow I will rework my habit app and get it set up for these new plans.

I got the stuff I wanted done today! Horray!

Tomorrow is the craft meet, hopefully someone will show me some knitting. Maybe.

I would also like to clean the living room, the very least. Pick up, vacuum.

More art work, always more artwork as I hardly spend time on it, so it's always there.

And of course, QA! QA will be more mid-afternoon than when I normally start, but the flexibility is one reason I do rather like this job.

I've thought about my movie theater job; like is it worth having? I get paid squat and have so little hours... but if I go back school, it'll be nice??? Since it's only ever one day a week it seems, and free movies.

I still don't know what I want to look into for a job. I had an idea of maybe animation for marketing; I talked with a friend who does marketing, and picked her brain some on it.

Her Advice:
Smaller companies, anywhere between 1 and 3 people working on something, depending on deadline. So Will need to know how to do it all, and fiarly well. (However, those videos she showed for examples, looked like I Could handle it all.)

Look at the advertising and marketing companies around, newspapers?? see what industry they are in (or mostly work with) and tailor the portfilio to fit that.

Check out some fav artist, collect images, animate their logo for a 30sec piece, pro-bono work,

HAND DELIVER the portfolio. DONT JUST EMAIL IT IN. They probably get a lot of people emailing them. They are small companies, bringing it in makes a big impression. (CD, business card)

Advertising Theory, Advertising psycology, marketing theory - Advertising classes for stuff to apply to the art. "it seems to be rarer and rarer to find a graphic artist with a firm understanding of campaign principles and having a firm theory behind their approach"

Portfolio carries more weight than a degree.
